This boat has now been matched to a new owner who is going to give her a total refurbishment.

Birchwood 33 in Windsor. She is listed as free to a good home. She’s definitely a project boat but we think as a free boat she is well worth doing. There are notes from the owner below which explain why the boat is being offered for free.

Elsidore was the much loved boat of my late brother – a lock keeper on the river Thames – who died unexpectedly last year.

He was unable to look after her in the last couple of years but took great delight from sitting on board, often with a cold beer, watching the world go by and listening to her engines.

She is structurally sound, has had recent antifouling and painting below the water line, some GRP repairs to the deck and has a boat safety certificate for another 3 years til Oct 2027. She does need work and some TLC but there is a great opportunity to bring her back to a great boat.

I am unable to give her the time and attention she deserves but to the right person, she could be a great live aboard or family boat. She has 6 berths with forward and aft cabins and her twin engines have some recent maintenance work carried out and are in working order.

I am not looking for a sale but would request that a donation is made instead of what is affordable to the British Heart Foundation, my brothers named charity.

My family would rather my brother’s legacy was a refurbished and reused Elsidore and my brother would also approve!
