The Sellers Guide

Owning a boat that has fallen behind on maintenance or sat idle for too long can often feel like an uphill battle; a constant struggle against mounting yard fees, shifting priorities, and the natural wear that comes with time. But every vessel deserves the chance for a second act rather than being left to deteriorate.

At Lonely Boats®, we believe no usable hull or salvageable project craft should simply be abandoned to the scrapyard. Powered by Boatbreakers®, our platform is designed to connect owners directly with a dedicated network of enthusiasts, restorers, and buyers who are actively seeking their next project. We make the listing process straightforward, transparent, and entirely within your control: a simple upfront fee, and zero commission on the final sale.

Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about how our rehoming process works for sellers, from submitting your vessel’s details to handing over the keys to her next owner.

The Listing Process

  • Take a look at the Service Breakdown Page to help you decide which service is right for you.

  • Head over to the List Your Boat page, choose your listing type, complete the form and press submit.

  • You will receive a confirmation e-mail which you can reply to if you have more pictures to send or want to add anything extra to the advert that you left off the form.

  • We will send an invoice to your e-mail address which you can pay online or via bank transfer.

  • Once the invoice is paid, we will create your listing and e-mail you confirmation that it is live and provide a link to the listing. If applicable; we will also post your listing in our Facebook Group.

What Happens After Listing

  • We collect the contact details of interested parties and e-mail them over to you. We aim to send e-mails 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).

  • You contact the potential buyers and answer their questions/arrange viewings.

  • You handle the sales process.

  • You tell us when the boat has sold and your ad moves into the Matched Boats archive.

  • You can also leave a testimonial via e-mail, which will appear on your boats archive page.

Anything Else You Need To Know

  • No Expiry Date on your advert.

  • You can contact us at any time to add/amend your advert.

  • If there have been no enquiries on your boat in a 30 day period, we will contact you to let you know and ask if there are any changes you would like to make to the advert.

  • If Applicable; Your advert will be re-shared in the Facebook Group after any changes.

The Buyers Guide

Finding your next vessel or dream restoration project shouldn’t mean sifting through misleading adverts or paying inflated broker fees. At Lonely Boats®, our platform is built to connect buyers directly with owners offering usable craft, project hulls, and bargain boats across the UK.

Browsing and submitting enquiries on Lonely Boats® is completely free. We act as a silent auction-style platform: you register your interest on the vessels you like, submit an optional offer amount or ask any questions, and we pass your details directly to the boat owner to arrange viewings and negotiate the deal.

  • Click on a boat to see more details and pictures about it.

  • If you have questions about the boat, or want to make an offer. You can fill in the form at the bottom of the boat’s listing.

What Happens Next

  • We forward your question to the boat owner for them to answer. This is done 3 times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday Mornings. The Form displays a message about the likely delivery day of your message.

  • If contacted by the owner, you will deal directly with them to arrange any viewings or sales.

Things To Remember

  • We can make no guarantees that you will hear back from the boat owner.

  • We send enquiries in a list, organised in descending order by offer amount. Please use the offer field if you are a serious buyer as the owner will see those names at the top and likely make contact with them first.
