Matched to a New Owner

This Boat is no longer lonely

This boat has now been matched to a new owner. Thanks to everyone who showed interested in her.

She is currently moored at Poole Yacht Club. Her owner has provided us with the notes on her current condition below. From the pictures we have been sent she looks like a really tidy boat. If you’re interested in taking her on please fill in the form below.

Notes from the Owner:

My boat made in 1972 is a Sabre 27′ of Marcon manufacture. Apart from the GRP decking which although solid ( as is the hull ) requires re-gelling. The original gel coat is solid but the white gel coat re-coating done by me 23 years ago has started peeling ( for some reason ) in the past 2 years.

My Sabre 27′ is still a workable boat. Engine, sails still very usable. I am at present sailing locally with it.

The only reason I have  to part with the boat is I am 80 years old now and although I have sailed this boat for around 46 years and still physically fit enough to continue I feel the cost of upkeep, mooring etc. is sapping my finances and that money could better be spent on my many other interests. The boat is moored at Poole Yacht Club.
The only sticking point is 20 years ago I re-gelled the topworks to white from a rather dull green. Two years ago parts of the gel started lifting. To regel topworks and hull commercially would cost around £8000 + as you will probably know. To DIY it would cost around £500 max. I gave it 8 coats with a paint roller, it took me 3 DRY days in summer and 20 years ago £300.
