Owner’s Notes:

1979 Westerly 33 Ketch, bilge keel for sale free of charge as a refit and restoration project.

Due to the pressures of family life and time constraints, I no longer have the required capacity to complete the project of restoring my boat and putting her back in the water, so I am offering her free of charge to any party interested in a project such as this.

For the purposes of transparency, she needs a lot of work to bring her back into commission. However, she is overall very sound and has had some preparatory work already completed.

She has been ashore in Fareham since October 2017.

The masts have been in undercover storage since the above date too.

Most of the deck fittings have been removed for restoration/replacement and I have most of them in storage.

Some of the work already undertaken and items purchased:

• The hull has had a gelcoat peel ready for minor osmosis treatment so will require re-coating to complete the process.
• Rig survey carried out and all required work professionally completed.
• Keels have been epoxied since haul out in 2017.
• New chainplates have been made and their deck positions strengthened, and new anchor points built below decks for the main shroud chainplate anchoring points.
• Complete set of brand-new standing rigging made and in storage at my property.
• Brand new Selden boom purchased and in storage at my property.
• Brand new Selden 304S furling gear purchased, constructed and fitted to new forestay.
• Rocna 15 anchor purchased with new chain and warp.

I appreciate that the photos don’t show her in her best light but there is obviously a huge amount of work to do.

This is only suitable for somebody who has the know-how and time to undertake what is required or someone who just loves Westerlys and wants to breathe new life into one of the classics of the 80’s!!
