“Unique opportunity to take ownership of a classic wooden motor cruiser that needs major refurbishment due to being laid up for several years.
Marigot was constructed in 1966 by Phillip & Son who constructed luxury sea going vessels for over a century from their location on the river Dart. She is what was advertised as the “Philip-Fifty” range of twin screw luxury motor yachts, designed for deep-sea, all-weather cruising in safety and comfort. Constructed from wood the hull profile is, from forward:
Raked soft nose stem with stainless steel shield and anchor hawse pipe, rounded forefoot, long straight keel leading to a long cut up aft and to a “V” shaped transom stern. The Sheer line is fair with considerable flare built into the topsides forward. A solid teak deck, giving to a low forward saloon, wheelhouse with engine room under and an aft cabin topside. Power is provided by two diesel engines driving through conventional stern gear and twin screws.

History:
Originally sold to a private ownership as far as is known Marigot remained in well maintained private ownership until 2005. She then went into service doing pleasure trips on and around the River Tyne and then being laid up in Hartlepool.
She came to current owners, Taymara, in 2013. Taymara are engaged in charitable work on the River Tay, and Marigot was engaged in this activity. Unfortunately, the COVID pandemic and a failure of the sea gates at Dundee dock resulted in the vessel becoming “trapped” in the dock and falling into disrepair.
Marigot remains in Dundee Docks, hull is watertight, engines are run, and vessel checked for integrity regularly. Plans are in discussion to have her lifted out of the Dock.
Although now needing some extensive work and TLC she is essentially a sound vessel that could be returned to former glory.
Taymara are a charitable organisation and would like Marigot to find an appreciative owner who would consider a donation to the charity.”
